Sad dogSince 2016, Animals’ Angels has been waging an awareness campaign of the deeply disturbing practice of killing dogs in gas chambers in America.

In 2016, we began printing and distributing materials to individuals to show the suffering that American dogs were facing. When we started our education campaign, gas chambers to kill dogs were legal in places like California. At the time, just 22 states had bans on dog gas chambers.

Since then, Animals’ Angels printed and distributed over a million pieces of literature advocating for the elimination of gas chambers for dogs and asking supporters to take action and email, call and send letters to authorities in charge.

We’ve seen a dramatic closure and elimination of dog gas chambers across the country. At the start of 2024 only two states continued to operate animal gas chambers: Missouri and Wyoming. This summer we launched a petition campaign to shut down Missouri’s last animal gas chamber in the city of Poplar Bluff.

Hundreds of our supporters contacted the mayor asking him to take action. In October, Poplar Bluff City Council voted in favor of shutting down and dismantling the gas chamber.
