Animals’ Angels investigators monitored the auction premises for two days. On 10/2/11, they saw a pickup truck and trailer from the Chateau Carriage Horse Stables in New York arrive at the auction. After a brief stop, the vehicle left, drove to the premises of a local horse trader in New Holland and unloaded what appeared to be a former NYC carriage horse. After the trailer left the premises, the investigators took a closer look at the grey , underweight Percheron Cross to see if there was a four digit number visible on his front left hoof. (All New York City Carriage horses have this number for identification purposes) No number was visible, but the appearance of the left front hoof was very different from the other hooves. When the investigators asked the young man that was present at the farm about the horse’s name, he replied that the horse had “just arrived from New York” and did not have a name. The investigators attended the New Holland Horse auction on 10/3/11 to check if the horse would be sold at the auction, but it was not.
