Investigation Category:
Investigator arrived 10:15 a.m. Approximately 250 horses were present at the auction that day. Several of the inside pens were very crowded. There were a few water buckets, but the horses were tied too tight to reach them. Some pens had low wooden beams running across the top and did not offer enough height for the taller horses. Several horses were thin and in need of farrier care. Investigator observed excessive whipping of horses. Kill buyer Bruce Rotz from Shippensburg, PA was present and buying. Animals’ Angels will continue to monitor the auction.
