There were only very few horses present at the 5/11 sale. Investigators observed kill buyer Carter buying 9 of the 10 horses sold. Among them was an approx. 30 year old, swayback mare with a severe face deformity. It was very difficult for her to eat, since her jaws were out of alignment. However, she was only moderately thin (BCS 4), which could indicate that a recent incident had caused the deformity. Animals’ Angels was informed that a rescue was able to obtain the mare from Carter and that she was humanely euthanized immediately.
