At the Calhan Horse Auction, approximately 30 horses were sold. Investigators noticed a few BLM horses in the pens. The horses appeared to be in good shape. There were no known “kill buyers” at the auction and all of the horses appeared to be sold to people from the local area. The handling of the horses was satisfactory, the horses had hay but some pens did not have water and all of the pens were extremely muddy from rains.
