Investigation Category:
Investigators arrived at the Greencastle auction at 4:00pm. When observing the outside “slow pen”, investigators noticed that there were 2 dead cows and 4 dead calves inside the pen. They were piled up along one side of the pen and the other cows were forced to walk around them. There were several cows that were emaciated and had extremely full udders. The handling of the animals by the auction workers was poor. Baby calves were pushed through the alleys and during the goat auction a male auction worker was observed pulling goats by the horns across the ring and out the other side. Animals’ Angels will continue to monitor this auction.
