We arrived at 3:30 p.m. Cattle, mostly dairy cows, were being auctioned. Several of the “slaughter” cows were emaciated and had difficulties walking. The animals were moved by riders on horses, dogs and moving sticks. The pens closest to the loading chutes had no feed or water. There were quite a few buyers in the auction, but most of the animals seemed to be selling into the slaughter pipeline. Some of the drivers were using moving paddles, while others were using electric prods to load the animals. The loading observed was quick and fairly calm. Two trucks from Gurney were loaded. Hayworth Trucking and HR Trucking were also present.
